This event was supported by the Basque Government, the Provincial Council of Bizkaia and Bilbao City Council, aligning the competition with regional strategies for promoting the creative industries. EIDE led the technical and creative aspects of the programme; it designed and facilitated an open innovation workshop in Zorrotzaurre, where students from around the world worked on Bilbao’s urban challenges for the year 2030. Through these meetings and the gala at the Guggenheim Museum, the association acted as a bridge between young international talent and the Basque professional ecosystem, reinforcing the region’s position as a global benchmark in design and innovation.
Talents Gazteak, an EIDE initiative that showcases the talent and skills of graduates from universities and higher education institutions in the Basque Country and Navarre in the creative disciplines —design, architecture, interior design, fashion, animation, video games, audiovisuals, illustration— is also linked to these awards, with each selected project automatically progressing to the final.
iF Design Award
Another strategic aspect of this agreement has been the selection of outstanding professional and business projects from the EIDE region for consideration as finalists for the iF DESIGN AWARD, automatically bypassing the online pre-selection (iF Online Preselection). In the 2025 edition, nine projects from the Basque Country and Navarre were awarded prizes, a milestone that we hope to surpass in the 2026 edition.
